Local education leader and longtime Bothell resident Mindie Wirth filed her official declaration of candidacy for the State Senate from the 1st Legislative District today.
“Voters deserve a senator who will listen and take action on the issues that will help them in their daily lives,” she said. “I’m not a career politician. I’m a Mom, an education advocate and a tech employee. My kids attend local schools and I drive on our congested roads. I understand the challenges our families face, and I know Olympia can do better.”
Wirth cited fixing the tolling I-405 mess, prioritizing education, controlling taxes and encouraging job creation as her priorities in the State Senate.
The First legislative district spans north King and south Snohomish Counties and includes Bothell, Brier, parts of Mountlake Terrace and Kirkland along with the North Creek and Maltby communities.
Mindie Wirth has deep roots in Washington State and the 1st Legislative District with relatives arriving in the Kirkland area in the early 1900s. A graduate of Bothell High School and the University of Washington-Bothell, Mindie has worked for nearly a decade at Microsoft where she focuses on bringing all parts of digital marketing onto common web analytics and reporting — efforts that have earned her both individual and group achievement awards. She currently serves as Co-President Elect of Northshore PTSA Council, and also has served as the group’s Vice President as well as Legislative & Advocacy Chair for her children’s elementary PTA. She is a volunteer unit leader for Bothell Girl Scouts Day Camp, volunteer youth basketball coach and past board member for Northshore Youth Basketball Association. Wirth is an avid volunteer for Washington Trails Association, leading many Microsoft “Day of Caring” trail repair events and earning the coveted WTA Hard Hat award. Wirth is a member of the University of Washington President’s Club and Turner Society, which supports research efforts for pediatric chromosome disorders.
Mindie lives in Bothell with her husband Johnny and their three children. For more information, visit WirththeVote.com.
